How do we train this?

Everyone knows that the nose of a dog is a hundred times better than the nose of a human. Can every dog be used as a rescue dog? Actually, yes. But, there are some points which make a huge difference.

1.       The dog has to love working (run, search)

2.       Dog and boss have to have a very good relationship based on mutual trust

3.       The dog has to be very social

4.       He has to be in well physical condition

5.       He also has to be very stable mentally

When the dog fulfills these conditions he can be trained to become a rescue dog by a thorough and frequently repeated training. This trainings start when they’re still a puppy. By playing games we will use the natural urges of a dog to teach him/her how to use his nose to find the victim. At the moment that he/she has found the victim, he/she has to indicate this by barking. After this he will receive his reward. The dog does it for this reward. The type of reward depends from dog to dog.

Spectator/victim:

Do you want to attend a training? Contact us by clicking HERE and fill in the form. We will inform you about possible dates and places in your neighborhood. You will get the chance to see the training of young dogs. Afterwards we ask you to play the role of a victim so that our elder dogs can search on other smells than ours. That’s why it is best for you that you wear sturdy shoes  and not new clothes.

Team member:

As a member of our team you’re responsible for your own costs such as clothing, armors, insurance,… We can’t give a compensation for movements or other expenses because of a training or search action. To be admitted to our team it is desirable that you have experience with dogs. Do you want to be admitted to our team temporary and train as a member and search after kids who ran away, missing elderly people or victims of a calamity. Than fill in the form by clicking HERE.
